Rezoning Presentation

At the Monday, March 28, 2022 Millbury Planning Board Meeting, a detailed presentation for the "Rezoning To Suburban II A Portion Of Residential I North Of Rice Road" was presented. The Millbury Planning Board members asked a series of questions and provided their input.

The Millbury's Code Enforcement Officer (the Building Inspector) spoke about his assessment and noted that "the applicants have made a valid point" and "this case has some merits." He also provided additional information and fielded questions from individual Millbury Planning Board members.

Two neighbors spoke in favor of the citizen's petition while others attended in person or via Zoom.

The public hearing was continued to April 11, 2022 at 7:15 PM.

This rezoning change has majority support of the affected neighbors, 20 registered voters who signed the petition, and the neighborhood that uses Rice Road to gain access to and from their properties.

Alternate Planning Board member, Fran DeSimone, noted that the people who will be most affected by the rezoning change signed the citizen's petition and therefore encouraged the Millbury Planning Board to make a favorable recommendation on the Town Warrant Article.

This Town Warrant Article and the Amendment that the proponents will offer, requires two-thirds of the voters present to pass this zoning change at the Town Meeting on May 3, 2022.
