Personal Responsibility

When you can do the things I can, but you don’t... and then the bad things happen... they happen because of you.
— Tom Holland's Peter Parker - Captain America: Civil War (2016)

We all have it within ourselves the power to change our community's future through what we do each day. Life is a collection of choices. We can choose to roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty, or take no action and hope someone else will change what we want for ourselves. Change happens because people make it happen.

Our neighborhood(s) and the town of Millbury as a whole needs our help right now more than ever to change the path our town is on. Because, once changed or developed, there is no way undoing it easily or without substantial financial resources.

Neighbors working together can impact whether or not we have "responsible development" that benefits most of us or a path forward that only benefits developers' profits, leaving lasting scars on surrounding neighborhoods. If we individually choose to do nothing, then Millbury will not look like or have the small town character that attracted most of us here, to this place we call "home" in the first place.

Just to be clear, our team of residents are not against development. We simply want "responsible development", that is safe (public safety), is in harmony with surrounding land uses, and is developed with environment sensitivity. What is proposed for Rice Road is not by any stretch of the imagination "responsible development". The same has happened in other neighborhoods in Millbury and will continue into the future, unless we take action now and mitigate our path forward for our existing neighborhoods.

Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.
