Rice Pond Village Denial
On Monday, January 24, 2022 and Monday, February 14, 2022, the Millbury Planning Board voted to deny the multifamily special permit and site plan review for the proposed Rice Pond Village project, proposed to have 46-dwelling units, on the 15.4822± acres of land owned by the Rice Pond Realty Trust, John Antaya, Kathleen (McLaughlin) Mardirosian, and the McLaughlin Family Living Trust; and the applicant Whitney Street Home Builders LLC, while approving the post-construction stormwater management permit for the proposed Rice Pond Village project with a project address of 17 Rice Road in Millbury, Massachusetts.

The continuation of the public hearings for the proposed Rice Pond Village project will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022, beginning at 7:15 PM EST.
Laurie Connors Tenders Resignation
Millbury’s Town Manager, Sean Hendricks, announced at the Tuesday, February 8, 2022 Millbury Board of Selectmen’s meeting that Laurie Connors, Director of Planning and Development, has tendered her resignation effective Monday, March 7, 2022. He stated that Laurie Connors will be taking a position in the Town of Northborough.
MBTA New Housing Regulations
The zoning reforms Governor Baker enacted as a part of the Economic Development Bill in January 2021 year created a requirement that MBTA communities have at least one zoning district of reasonable size in which multifamily housing is permitted as of right and meets other criteria.
Big Coyote In Neighborhood
Earlier this afternoon, a huge coyote (or coywolf) walked up Thomas Hill Road, through a yard, and into the woods west of Thomas Hill Road and east of South Main Street, behind the houses on the north side of Captain Peter Simpson Road. A neighbor has posted online that the coyotes use the power lines as a travel lane.
Chapter 40B Meeting Scheduled
The Millbury Town Manager, Sean Hendricks, disclosed to the Millbury Board of Selectmen at their Tuesday, January 25, 2022 meeting, that developer, Steven F. Venincasa, and his legal counsel, will be meeting with town officials on Monday, January 31, 2022, to discuss a Chapter 40B affordable housing development. No further information was provided.
