UN1F1ED2 And Millbury
Last night, Wednesday, May 25, 2022, two neighbors attended the UN1F1ED2 Parkway Project neighborhood meeting where Sutton residents and surrounding towns were invited to come and hear about the project, ask questions, and express concerns. It was hosted by the management and project team of UN1F1ED2 Global Packaging Group.
Upon arriving at UN1F1ED2 Global Packaging Group headquarters, the CEO opened the door for one of our neighbors, introduced himself, and spent time answering specific questions about how the project could impact our neighborhood and Millbury residents.
Will UN1F1ED2 Parkway Project utilize the railroad to bring in raw materials or to ship out product, thus increasing railroad traffic?
No, there are no plans to use the railroad for these purposes at this time and the site is not designed for such purposes.
However, Millbury's former town planner was insisting upon the use of the railroad, which was and was not in our neighborhood's best interests. In would not be in our neighborhood's or many neighborhood's best interests because it would have increased the frequency of trains and the associated noise. It would be in the town's interests because it would reduce truck traffic through Millbury's downtown with the now narrower streets. So, it was refreshing to hear that is not in their plans at this time.
Will truck traffic from the UN1F1ED2 Parkway Project be directed into Millbury on Providence Street (Route 122A) or Dudley Road (which becomes South Main Street in Millbury)?
No, all truck traffic will be out of Unified Parkway to Boston Road to Route 146 either north or south, and from Unified Parkway south on Providence Street (Route 122A) not north by design and project restrictions.
Will any of the buildings contained in the UN1F1ED2 Parkway Project be "last milage" deliveries (i.e., an Amazon type business)?
No, "last mile" business are prohibited by restrictions for the UN1F1ED2 Parkway Project.
It should be mentioned that UN1F1ED2 Global Packaging Group does have an existing facility on Howe Avenue, so you may have noticed some trucks and you will continue to see trucks, but there should be no significant increase in truck traffic from the UN1F1ED2 Parkway Project.
It was quite refreshing to be able to have a developer of a property be able to be straightforward with answers to direct questions and be willing to be a good neighbor and partner with the surrounding neighborhoods and residents. UN1F1ED2 Global Packaging Group are invested in their community(ies) and have been for decades.
